I've struggled for a while to find the right name for my site that can also be linked to the DVDs I produce. It started out as 'John Raby's Home on the Web' but I feel that I've outgrown that. Using 'Steam' in the title doesn't allow for my interest in antique electrics and trams, and in narrow gauge diesel, electric and other haulage methods such as cable, animal and human power. Using 'Railways' for me includes too much of the modern rail scene of multiple units, hi-vis jackets, suspicion of photographers, limited loco haulage and all the bad vibes that rail travel in the UK currently gives off. Using 'World' or 'International', suggests that I have no interest in my local UK scene which is not the case. Anyway, 'Linesiding' seems to fit. It sums up what I do when I travel to see trains and it sums up the type of DVDs I produce. So, 'Linesiding with John' it is for the foreseeable future.
