We have just taken part in a Rainbow Guide Pilot project. This involved trying different activities after which we had to let the Guide Association have some feedback as to how we got on! The theme of the pilot is ‘Diversity’ and it aims to bring some of the main issues of the Diversity of our country into a Rainbow meeting through discussion, activities and fun. We have tried to appreciate that we all have responsibilities; to our families, friends and ourselves and that all people are important, recognising that some have needs that differ to our own.

There are three sections –

Citizenship
  • The country in which I live and the community in which I live
  • Responsibilities for our own behaviour and the importance of rules
  • Being a good member of the community
Disabilities

Relationships

Each Rainbow who took part in the pilot will receive a cloth badge to wear on her tabard.

We especially enjoyed the following sections:

  • The country in which I live - On 23rd April we held a St George's Day meeting and at another meeting we made a Jubilee mural with pictures of the Queen showing her life and work over the last 50 years.

  • Responsibilities for our own behaviour  - At one meeting we learnt how to vote (Votes for all)

  • Disabilities - We held a disability awareness meeting

  • Relationships - Our theme for this meeting was 'Friends'
