Summer Term 2005 This term we will be taking part in Girl guiding UK‘s ‘Adventure Out’ Challenge. All the girls taking part will receive a badge at the end of term even if they miss one or two weeks. The Challenge is based on eight topic areas and we are aiming to try an activity from each section. These are AIR EARTH FIRE WATER SPORT HORIZONS SHELTER & ON THE MOVE
26th April – Air We will be making kites and playing games using air
Monday 2nd May – Missenden Show 2005 (By taking part in the parade we are covering the ‘On the move’ activity)
3rd May – Horizons In Japan they celebrate Children’s Day or "Kodomo-no-I” on 5th May so we will be finding out a little about Japan and this Festival
10th May – Fire Amongst other activities we will be making edible campfires. (No activities will involve actual fire!)
17th May – Shelter We will be having a pretend camp
24th May – The Rainbow Promise This evening all our activities will be based on the Rainbow Promise and we will be planning for our next Promise party
7th June – Water This meeting will be spent Pond dipping in High Wycombe.
14th June – Promise Party At tonight’s meeting our newest girls will make their Rainbow Promise.
21st June – Sport We plan to hold a ‘mini-Olympics’ event
28th June - Earth We are planning to go strawberry picking.
Monday 4th July – Great Missenden District Annual Picnic This is an annual event when all the Rainbow Units in the District get together.
5th July – MEETING CANCELLED
12th July – Pot of Gold Party This is when we say Goodbye to the Rainbows who will be leaving us to go to Brownies
Recent Events We have now come to grips with the new Rainbow programme and things are going very well. Even the new uniform now seems to be readily available. Last term every girl earned a blue Rainbow Roundabout badge and we held our first Pot of gold party.
In January 2005 we went to see the pantomime 'Dick Whittington'
