DIRECT DRIVE
Direct Drive is the quarterly magazine of the Renault Frères produced in A5 format and generally comprising 28 pages.
The title of the magazine derives from Louis Renault’s most financially fruitful patent that in top gear the drive from the engine is connected by a direct shaft within the gear box through to the rear differential, ie, the differential pinion turns at engine speed when running in top gear with no intervening gear wheels: this became known as "Direct Drive"
The magazine sets out to cover items of interest for the car enthusiast members of the Club; those who are more technically inclined and the lady Club members. Thus there is quite a social content to the magazine reflecting the unwritten principles of the Club these being – good company, good food, enjoyment of wine, the pleasures of visiting France and a passion and love affair with Louis Renault’s robust and remarkable and reliable Edwardian automobile engineering.
