The
MSA British Off Road Championship will today announce a new
sponsorship deal with Matador Tyre Sport UK.
"Ultimately we want people to enjoy themselves watching and participating in 4x4 competition," explains Graham Middleton MD of Matador Tyre Sport UK. "but at the same time it brings a different angle to Matador Sport's sporting portfolio." Championship director, Selwyn Kendrick was equally glowing about the new sponsors. "We are very pleased to be joining the Matador motorsport family and are chuffed to bits to be partnered by a company that is as passionate about the sport as we are. Graham Middleton has spent the last year experiencing our events as a competitor and now he is providing us with the support to move the sport forward. Graham has got lots of ideas and we fully expect Matador to be very proactive in their support." |

From grass roots to sand dunes
On the championship stand this year at the Autosport International Show at the NEC (12-15th January), the Matador MSA British Off Road Championship are featuring Graham Middleton's production class Mitsubishi Shogun Evolution which he used on the British Off Road Championship in 2005. Graham's Shogun is easily recognisable to the 'man on the street' and vehicles like these competing will hopefully encourage new people into the sport at a grass roots level. The other vehicle featured on the stand is the Ford RS Trainer and this also represents an attempt to bring new blood into the competition. This vehicle is likely to form part of an initiative to get teenagers to take their first step onto the off road motorsport ladder of opportunity. |
4x4's take to the air in the Live Action Arena!
Experience the thrill and speed of one of UK motorsport's best kept secrets in the Autosport International Live Action Arena. Four of the countries best teams are fighting it out head-to-head in the live action arena on a course which combines an appropriately slippery floor surface with a purpose made off road track right in front of the stands. Some of the top cars in the Matador MSA British Off Road Championship are quick enough to out-gun a WRC Car, but they are also able to traverse incredible terrain at high speed. They also sound incredible with their large capactiy V8s. If you don't believe us see for yourself in the Live Action Arena! Ryan Cooke leads the charge with his awesome 5 litre Land Rover Special. If you have never seen a Land Rover do donuts, then you need to see this guy go! James Webb, will be deputising for Chris Hammond in Chris's Bowler Wildcat 200, as Chris is making his debut on the Dakar rally. John Cockburn brings his awesome Super Prodcution class Range Rover, which not only blitzed the class in the MSA British Off Road Championship, but also secured a remarkable 37th place overall on the Tour of Mull tarmac rally! Rounding off the display team is Robin Rymell who competes in a 4.2 litre supercharged Simmbugghini. |
