Events
This superb venue starts the championship off with an extended course. Frighteningly fast tracks, large drops and slippery firebreaks typify this vast site, a long time favourite of WRC drivers! Ellesmere, Shrops 4th-5th June Now a championship regular this site is a mixture of fast open fields, gravel tracks and more technical woodland sections. A summer date won’t guarantee the weather, but the prospect of dry conditions will make this a very fast event. An excellent and vast new site in the South West of Scotland within easy reach of the M6 provides another completely new challenge to the 2004 championship. Tunbridge Wells 10th-11th September Within easy reach of London, the course takes in a mixture of fast flowing grassland sections through a deer park and a number of much trickier "real" off road sections through the woods. A terrific spectacle and a veritable drivers course. Driffield 29th-30th October
A classic all weather site rounds off the championship in style. Expect plenty of water and loads of "air" as the competitors leap and splash their way around this dramatic "lunar" landscape. |

An excellent way to keep in touch with the off road scene, this excellent Newspaper, set up by the irrepressable Diana Andrews and run with the help of former British Off Road Champion, Bruce Tigwell, has now merged with the new Total Off Road Magazine. Editor Alan Kidd promises plenty of motorsport coverage throughout the year. No website yet. 4x4 Magazine is a continuation of the eldest off road UK magazine Overlander 4x4. It gives excellent coverage across the whole breadth of off roading and 4x4s in the UK and around the world. Editor John Carroll is a well known face in the off road motorsport scene. More motorsport coverage is promised and there are occasionally some excellent features on competition prepared vehicles. Excellent photos and well written Land Rover World has always been a strong supporter of the off road motorsport scene in the UK and despite a recent change of editor there is no reason to suggest that this will change. With the irrepressible Steve Wells as their sport correspondent you can always expect good coverage of all the major off road motorsport events in the UK. Steve has lots of experience in the scene, as journalist, organiser and competitor. He also runs Tomcat Motorsport, who build Drew Bowler's original concept although with a handful of new ideas all the time! Dave Barker, once press officer for the Hillrally, is in charge of the sport coverage in this excellent Land Rover publication. With Dave in charge you can expect some very fair reporting of the trials and tribulations of off road motorsport in the UK. Land Rover Owner International The original Land Rover magazine and some would still say the best, although competition is tight in this sector. If you are into Land Rovers then this is still one of the best places to go. A new magazine on the scene, but already with a strong off road motorsport thread. Keep an eye on this one! An off road magazine on the web, up-dated monthly it is well worth checking back regularly. Lots of interesting features and news. Good links and motorsport sections. Amongst other useful features and articles, 4x4 Mart featured (Aug 2002) www.britishoffroadchampionship.co.uk in their good off road online guide. The All Wheel Drive Club magazine and worth joining the club for!
