Mike Bakewell

Like father, like son

Mike Bakewell is part of the Bakewell's transport team.  This is very much a family effort, most of the family take part.  Indeed Mike cites Mum and Dad as his main sponsors.

Mike is one of two competing brothers and father Phil is also pretty handy with the steering wheel and competes on the Goodyear National Hillrally Championship.

The team has matching TMC 4x4 (Tim Marsh Creation - constructed by former British Champion Tim Marsh.) powered by 5.7 litre small block Chevy V8s.  The Chevy engine is, as Phil points out, cheap power with lots of cheap tuning parts easily available from the USA. 

Certainly neither car is short of power, and the team are looking forward to running on the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R control tyre as they reckon that it should slow their high tyre consumption!  The TMCs are capable of badly chewing-up a remould tyre in a single event!
