Winner of the penultimate round of the Goodyear MSA British Off Road
Championship, Tim Dilworth had little to lose and everything to gain at the
championship's final round in Shropshire.

With reigning champion Richard Kershaw holding a substantial championship lead, Tim's only chance of championship success was to pressurise Richard into a mistake.  Tim's approach to this was faultless.  The early laps were typified by an incredibly slippery surface, but Tim Dilworth made the most of his Simmbugghini and the conditions to put in ten straight fastest times on day one.

By the end of the day it was clear that Kershaw was content to settle for
the championship result and let Dilworth surge ahead for the win.
Nonetheless Richard still held a strong second place in front of an epic
battle for third.  Fresh from a third place at the previous event Ryan Cooke
was pushing on, but was being challenged consistently by the most improved
driver in 2003, Tom Rimell in his 3M Special.  The two traded times
throughout, until Ryan had a pair of bad laps early on day two.  One broken
halfshaft, was followed by a second leaving Ryan stranded with no drive in
one of the trickiest sections of the course.  A maximum time was given, only
for him to belly the vehicle out on the next lap requiring a tow.  Rimmel
took the final podium place, but Ryan's first in class was enough to claim
third overall in the championship.

Three laps from the end, Tim Dilworth's Simmbugghini was stranded on the
course with a broken prop shaft.  With the championship pretty much in the
bag, Richard Kershaw sensed the opportunity for a win and upped his pace.

Even with a maximum time, Tim Dilworth was still ahead by forty-five seconds
going into the penultimate lap, but over exuberance in an attempt to make up
for lost time cost Dilworth dearly with another maximum time caused by a
roll mid lap.   With this Richard Kershaw was assured of both the win and
the championship for the second year running.
