2011
Club Annual Awards, From
left: Daniel
Anderson (allocated one of Beaumont's
London Marathon places) This
year we asked a special guest to present
awards: John Offord (on
right above) was a Beaumont RC member
in the '80s and '90s and still holds the
record for the fastest marathon time by
anyone from Leicestershire - that's 2hr
13min. However he is also remembered as an
inspirational coach; his training helped
contemporary Club members to remarkable
performances - and played no little part
in putting Beaumont at the forefront of
county clubs. Here
Terry Simms (ex-President of Beaumont
RC and currently LOROS represenative )
holds aloft Beaumont's cheque for
£550 that John Offord
presented to the charity (Chairman John
Baldwin mediates centre-stage). This
amount was raised by a
guess-the-distance-run competition and
donations at the 2011 Anniversary Relay.
We raised more money than last year and
(pro rata, given that the Relay is now a
12-hour event) receipts compared well with
any previous year

its annual nibbles evening and awards

independent entries for the 2006 London Marathon
had been unsuccessful, were presented with the
Club's allocated places New Club
jackets: Yellow jacket on left, which has a net
lining, will be priced at about £18. The grey
jacket, with textile lining, should be about
£25. Club secrettary Carol Fossard (tel: 0116

jackets to most training evenings over the next few
weeks In September
Beaumont Running Club followed last year's
anniversary relay run with a 21-hour version. We
ran further (even pro rata), and our effort raised
£1,200 for LOROS. At the Nibbles Night Noel
Fowler, who organised the event, presented
Beaumont's cheque to Christian Picker of
LOROS. Anniversary
