11 Beaumont runners turned out to compete in the Dovedale Dash - a hilly 4.75 mile cross-country with a semi-wet crossing of the River Dove thrown in. Only the first 10 finishers are published and several Beaumont entrants declared that they treated the event as a social run. Mark Whitfield was our first finisher (at 89th of about 1,200). Kate Griffiths was 851st. Other finishers (no positions available): Mark & Bev Ritchie, Julie & Mick Kirby, Sharon & Roger Moon, Barry Coleman, Clare Scott and Terry Simms.

Ken Earp completed the Dublin Marathon on 29th October, crossing the line in 4:44:45 to finish 5,767th of 8,428 (and he was 161st in the M55 category). Ken reports that the course took runners through the city centre, parks and suburbs of the city. In running terminology it was a little undulating but, with support and encouragement all round the course on a nice sunny autumn day, it made for a great atmosphere. Full results

In each city, employees from local corporations entered as a team and competed in 3.5-mile road races, with the fastest company teams advancing to this season-ending championship race on Park Avenue.

Phil finished 20th of 268 male runners in 17:57, and the Royal Mail team (in which he was one of four) won the team event. Full results

When Sharon McMulty left us to move to Vancouver, Canada, she certainly kept up her running. Among her reports to Debbie Marsden, she writes: 'Did the Terry Fox 10k in Whistler Mountain and was 4th lady home, and 10th over all'. Also: 'Did my second cross country here and came third lady overall and 2nd in my age category. I got a medal for the third place position. Knew that I would not catch the first lady vet as it a lady called Jeanie Bezden who runs at a national level (she was minutes ahead). The cross country races here are lovely but there are not as many women that enter them, which a bit disappointing, certainly not as many as in the Derby Runner League. Apparently not many women like the off road stuff. They do a masters series where you need to do 4 in the series. I will just have to wait and see how I do across them all, which I am hoping to do this year. Still at least I have managed to pick up something in both the races that I have done here and scored points towards the total.'

Leicestershire county 10,000m track champion Debbie Marsden, representing Beaumont , won the tenth anniversary Wellingborough 5 mile race in Northamptonshire. 5th August was almost certainly the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures nearing 29 degrees, Debbie crossed the line at the New Memorial Sports Park in a time of 32mins 41secs to take a fine victory

On 25th July Phil Critchlow finished 8th of 288 in the Notts AC 5. His time: 26:10. Mike Townsend finished 24th in 28:53, and Debbie Marsden 54th (and 5th lady) in 31:59. Full results

On 15th July, Debbie Marsden finished as 2nd lady in the Belvoir Castle 7 miles. Her time: 44:23. Full results not found

Also on 15th July Phil Critchlow tackled the Great Hucklow Fell Race and finished 6th of 131 in 46:50. Full results

On 12th July (the day after the Hungarton 7) Debbie Marsden, Keith Riddleston and Jenny Riddleston ran the Whissendine 6 (but reported to be 10K in distance). Debbie was 22nd overall of 198 in 38:50, Keith 90th in 47:26, and Jenny 147th in 53:42. Full results

On 24th June men and women's teams from Leicestershire and Rutland clubs competed in the Humber Bridge Half Marathon (which was part of the UK Inter-counties Championship). In the men's race Phil Chritchlow finished first for the Leicestershire team. He came home 9th place overall (of 1,137) in a time of 1:14.28. The Mens' team finished 5th (the Womens' team, led by Nicola Clay of Stilton Striders, finished 1st)

On Saturday 9 June Steve Ellis took part in the 27th running of the classic Nike Blaydon Race, contested over 5.7 miles from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Blaydon. He completed the course in 44:22 - and was pleased with this as he hadn't run for 2 weeks because of injury. Steve was 872nd out of 3,338 finishers. The atmosphere was incredible and he reports that he thoroughly enjoyed the event. The race conditions were a bit warm but it was well worth the 400 mile round trip. Finish line goodies included beer and a souvenir Nike technical t-shirt.

Man vs Horse 2007 - Debbie Marsden reports:

We only got beaten by one horse!!!!!!! We were 7th back and 1st mixed team. Aggregate time: 2:36:40. However there were no prizes for mixed teams (they count as men's teams) - but we got trophies for third men's team. (Debbie 1st leg finished 3rd lady and 8th, then Rahim Madarbux on the second leg, then Phil Critchlow picked some people off to finish 7th). Team results

Sula Young ran her last race in Leicestershire on Thursday 26th April - and won. She was first lady in the Leicestershire and Rutland 10,000 metre Championships at Saffron Lane. Sula's 36:13.1 was well inside Kate Ramsey's CBP of 37:38.6 set in 2000. But she did not qualify for the County Championship (Highgate Harriers is her first claim club). That honour was not lost to Beaumont RC - runner-up and club mate Debbie Marsden took the title (her time: 39:48.0). Results

Phil Critchlow was second in the Notts Easter 10K at Wollaton Park on Easter Monday, 9th April. No times or full results yet available
