Formed in 1974 from an evening class at the Oulton Broad Community Centre,
the group's first production was "Murder in Company" at Gorleston Road
School
Between 1975 and 1977, the group performed at Morton Road Theatre
Centre, now the Seagull, which seats 100 people

After reaching capacity audiences with each production, the group decided to
take a gamble and moved to the Sparrow's Nest Theatre, which seated 600
people, and performed there until 1987.Pictured here is "House by the Lake" 1987.
When the decision was taken to pull down the Sparrow's Nest Theatre, the Qs
were left without a theatre in Lowestoft, as the new Marina Theatre was
financially out of reach. Maurice Moran of St George's Theatre in Great
Yarmouth came to the rescue with an offer to perform at St George's on a
permanent basis. Pictured here is "Bonaventure" performed in 1989.
.
As part of the ongoing object of bringing the Quaysiders back to Lowestoft,
sponsorship was obtained for a production at the Seagull Theatre in 1996 and,
for the next three years, the group alternated productions between St
George's and the Seagull. Pictured here is "Outside Edge" performed in 1993.
. From 1999 to 2006, when the financial situation of the
group was secure, all productions have been performed at the Seagull, at last
bringing the Qs back to Lowestoft for two productions each year. This is a picture from "Beyond Reasonable Doubt" staged in 1997.
