| Gala |
The Abingdon Gala was a huge success in 2003 by the side of the Thames in Abingdon. This is a major event with high quality acts being presented. The weather was kind to us and a big crowd had a very enjoyable day. The MG Car Club held a rally in association with the Gala and so visitors were able to see these magnificent cars, which were mostly built in Abingdon, at close quarters and in action. The day raised around £2000 for Abingdon Lions who donated all of it and more to Abingdon Hospital for a converted people carrier for transporting patients. See September 2003 on the Welfare page for further details. Many other charitable organisations also had money raising stalls. We would like to thank the people of Abingdon for their support on the day. |
| Christmas Float |
Each December we tow our Father Christmas float around the housing estates in Abingdon for ten nights to bring Father Christmas to the children. This is a very popular event with the public. In addition we have the float outside our local Waitrose and we ran a Santa Grotto at Millets Farm at weekends. We raised £7466 in December 2006. |
| Brains of Abingdon |
For the past twelve years in February/March we have conducted a quiz to find the Brains of Abingdon. Around 40 teams take part and we raised £250 in 2004. |
