Millenium Environment Debate A further donation of £150 was made.
Edward's Trust The club made a further donation of £50 to care for children and families during bereavement.

August 2002


Abingdon Hospital The club agreed to purchase two oximeters, which check blood, oxygen levels and pulse rate, for Abingdon Hospital at a cost of almost £700.

June 2002


Malawi The club is funding a student in Malawi for four years at a cost of £400.

May 2002


Chessington World of Adventure Ten young people were taken to Chessington World of Adventure in a minibus. They were also given a picnic lunch.
Operation Raleigh Abingdon Lions has agreed to assist the travel funds to the extent of £150 of a young man who is going to Chile on Operation Raleigh.

April 2002


Old Station House The club voted to donate £510 for the purchase of patio furniture for Old Station House home for the elderly in Abingdon.

March 2002


Symettrisleep System The club agreed to purchase a special bed system for a disabled child who has difficulty sleeping at a cost of £817.

February 2002


Fire Victim Support Unit A donation of £1000 was made to the Fire Victim Support Unit in Oxford. The FVSU assists people with basis essentials after a fire.
2 Care The club continued its support to 2 Care with a further donation of £250 to help take 10 residents on a holiday to Cornwall.
Message in a Bottle The club purchased 450 more bottles at a cost of £99.
Video Recorder A video cassette record worth £69 was donated to Ladygrove House in Didcot.
Fireman's Benevolent Fund The club voted £50 to the Fireman's Benevolent Fund.

January 2002


Christmas Float Abingdon Lions received assistance from several other organisations in manning the Christmas Float. Consequently we are pleased to make the following donations in recognition of that help: Round Table £350, NSPCC £225, Scouts £175, Wallingford Lions £175, Thomas Read School £150, Ladies Circle £75, OMEGA £60.
Direct help We purchased a cooker and fridge for a very needy family for £258.
Street Children's Nursery The club have donated £500 to assist in the setting up of a nursery for the street children of Bogota.
Jubilee Party The club are sending a coach load of senior citizens to the district jubilee party at a cost of £430.
