LILAS

A spacious, quiet, central apartment close to the beaches

On the Cote d’Azur in the heart of Provence, ‘Lilas’ overlooks this historic fishing town.  Beaches, restaurants and the delights of the market square are easy to discover from this central location.  Enjoy romantic dinners on the southern balcony-terrace with views of the sea, medieval castle and illuminated clock tower.

Inviting restaurants and bars spill out onto the streets surrounding the port and market square which are close to a safe, sandy beach.  All this is within five minutes’ walking distance from the apartment through Cassis’ narrow, cobbled streets.

Large French windows open onto the balcony-terrace to give this luxurious apartment a truly Mediterranean feel. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and newly decorated.  There is private parking and a well-kept garden which together create a peaceful and secure setting.  Lilas is ideal for couples or a small family of four.

Location

The apartment is on the second floor of a residential building surrounded by shady palm trees and pines.  Situated in the town centre, 300m from the nearest beach and 200m from the port, everything is within easy walking distance.  There is also a butcher, baker, pharmacy and newsagent just across the road, close to a convenient car park.

Cassis and activities

The Calanques, a national park, are provencal fjords with crystal clear, green water. Framed by white limestone cliffs and the deep blue of the ocean, secret beaches and coves await discovery.  Catch a boat from the port (they leave every half hour) and hop off in a Calanques where you can enjoy a picnic, the sun and a spot of diving or snorkelling.  A renowned diving area, complete with Roman wrecks, lies half an hour’s boat ride out to sea.  Alternatively you may prefer to take advantage of the world famous rock climbing nearby or just enjoy a peaceful stroll along the water’s edge.

Cassis produces a delicious white wine, the result of a long tradition of wine making.  Many of the local Chateaux welcome visitors and offer free wine tasting.  Other enjoyable days out include visits to Marseille or Aix-en-Provence where music and dance festivals take place.

Hello from the owner

I recently fell in love with Cassis whilst on a rock climbing trip.  Cassis is a gem; it is a classic, old, Mediterranean fishing village steeped in history and packed with wonderful restaurants and shops.  The port and promenade are an eclectic mix of boats, yachts, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Spectacular hidden coves (les Calanques) are just a boat-ride away.  The colourful market comes to the village square twice a week.  The scene is just as you imagine ..... olives, cheeses, honey, fruit and vegetables together with that essential bustle of people.

Moreover Cassis is one of the truly unspoilt parts of the Cote d’Azur.  Thanks to the national park, medieval castle and the famous vineyards, property developers have been kept out and Cassis has retained its 16th and 18th century architecture.

Victor Parsons is a truly charming and helpful gentleman who will meet you and look after you during your stay in Cassis.  I hope I have drawn you a full and accurate picture of what Cassis and the apartment have to offer.  If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me: annika.purkhardt@btconnect.com
