| Cromer lighthouse stands sentinel on Lighthouse Hill, casting its reflecting gaze over the unrelenting sea from east to west, with the flashes of light visible for 23 miles by day and by night. The lighthouse is 58 feet high and stands at an elevation of 274 feet above sea-level. In the foreground is part of the Royal Cromer Golf Club, stretching some 6,300 yards from Cromer across the cliff tops towards Overstrand, with the clubhouse visible on the left of the picture. Above, and slightly to the centre of the picture, is the Royal Links Hotel, now long-gone as the result of a mysterious fire in the 1940s. |
