| Its a sunny day and there are plenty of locals and holidaymakers about enjoying the weather. Some are now making the climb up the slope to the top of West Parade, whilst others remain clustered on the sandy beach. Just right of the promenade can be seen a row of Bathing Machines, which in earlier times would have been wheeled into the sea for those wishing to have a quick dip away from the public gaze! The would-be bathers were clothed from neck to knee in blue bathing gowns, trimmed with scarlet, and were segregated as there was no mixed bathing in earlier times! This view looks towards East Runton. |
