Pat Stevens

PATRICIA STEVENS (PATSY CUTTING)
12 August 1948 – 21 March 2004

PAT, OR PATSY as she was known by her friends in Sheringham, Norfolk, England, spent her early years living with her parents, brothers and sisters in a house in Britons’s Lane, Beeston Regis, with views looking out over the fields with Beeston Bump, a famous local landmark, in the distance.

The town of Sheringham’s motto Twixt Sea and Pine is all the more poignant now that Pat lies at rest in the beautiful Garden of Peace at the Alaskan Memorial Park, in Juneau the State capital, with its picturesque backcloth of pine trees and mountains.

Patsy will always be remembered as such a lively, happy person, of outstanding beauty with the most captivating eyes one could ever imagine. In Sheringham, after leaving school, she worked for a while the Gatehouse Cafe on Station Road before emigrating to the United States of America where she was to meet her husband-to-be, John R Stevens.

Upon his return from Vietnam, John and Pat set up home in Juneau, Alaska, and were to remain there, having two children – a daughter Tammy and a son Scott – and eventually to become grandparents.

Pat gained employment as the Executive Residence Steward at the Governor’s Mansion and held that position for over fifteen years, proudly overseeing, training and guiding newly-employed personnel to project the best possible impression on behalf of the Governor and his first lady – a far cry from her early beginnings as a waitress in Sheringham.

Patsy made a great many loyal friends at the Governor’s Mansion, who all miss her terribly, especially her friendship and her vibrant and infectious laughter, and barely a day goes by when they do not think of her.

For those of us from ‘the good old days’, in Beeston Regis and Sheringham, we will not only remember Patsy with much affection but also with great pride at what she achieved in her lifetime.

Patsy – we feel honoured to have known and loved you! God bless you.

From all your many friends here in Sheringham, Norfolk, England.

Though those around still mourn and weep,
Pity me not for I just sleep.
Like an eagle I soar and fly,
Amongst the mountains in the sky.
One day we’ll meet on Heaven’s shore,
And be together for evermore.
