THE WEST END

Looking east, towards Sheringham.

This photograph, looking east towards Sheringham, was taken
during the early 1930s, as is evident by the absence of the
Lifeboat Shed, which was built at the west end of the promenade
around 1936. To the right of the picture is the Grand Hotel,
an area the Author always knew as ‘Grand Court’. Behind the hotel
can be glimpsed the rising ground of Beeston Bump in the
distance. The ubiquitious beach huts appear to be snaking all the
way to the West Beach and out of sight!
