BEESTON BUMP

Beeston Bump.

Beeston Bump, a famous local landmark, dominates Sheringham.
No matter where you are in the town you can usually get a
glimpse of its imposing outline, and the exertion needed to climb
to its summit is well worth it from the breathtaking views of
Sheringham and beyond. The hill was formed as the result of
glacial action during the Ice Age, and is composed of much
material originating from Scandinavia. During mid-Victorian
times, there was a second, more northerly hill and, it is said that,
local youngsters used to play football in the valley between the
two ‘Beeston Bumps’!
