Regular DX Meetings

The following meetings are held regularly. Feel free to go along and enjoy the chance to meet fellow radio enthusiasts! Details of the dates of future meetings are in the next section.

Red PinReading DX Meeting - going strong for over 30 years!

These inter-club meetings of the Reading International Radio Group are an opportunity for friends from all the UK DX clubs to meet together. They have been held regularly since 1976 and are still proving to be very popular. Since February 2005 the meetings have been held in the meeting rooms at the Reading International Solidarity Centre (RISC), 35-39 London Street, Reading, RG1 4PS. RISC has a cafe/bar (RISC Global Cafe) and shop (The World Shop) in London Street, the meeting rooms are at the back, the entrance is via a small passage just beyond the RISC shop - or ask for directions in the shop or bar. The meeting itself starts at 1430, though some members meet first in the RISC Global cafe/bar from about 1400. The meetings last about two and a half hours, followed by an optional drink and curry at a local Indian restaurant. For anyone attending the meeting by car there is free parking at the back of the RISC centre (NB access to the carpark is via East Street, off South Street). By rail, London Street is approx 12 minutes walk from Reading station. It is just south of the main town centre. Further details from Mike Barraclough on (01462) 643899 or via e-mail - mikewb[at]dircon.co.uk ** RISC has a web site including directions (see "Where Are We?") at www.risc.org.uk

Red PinNorth West DX Meetings

These occasional meetings began some years ago in Manchester and soon diversified to include all radio enthusiasts including radio amateurs, airband listeners, utility band monitors etc as well as the short wave broadcast band DXers from the BDXC. The meetings now usually take place in Macclesfield, with an informal pub meeting and optional meal. All are welcome. For further details please contact Tom Read Tel 01625 612916 or email tommyread[at]hotmail.com **. On the night you can also contact Tom on mobile telephone 07724 113877 or 07821 151504 or via 2m amateur radio on 145.500 MHz (the 2m calling channel).

Red PinTwickenham Summer DX Meeting

A Saturday in mid Summer has become a firm favourite event on the BDXC calendar. A lazy summer afternoon by the Thames supping a pint or four and chatting about anything and everything - though naturally radio is top of the agenda! - is the prospect and for those that wish to do so an Indian meal at a nearby restaurant follows at about 7pm. Fine weather cannot be guaranteed, of course, but it has accompanied us for four of the last five years. If you want to come to the meal please be sure to let us know well in advance so that we can book a place for you. Further details from Mark Savage email: mark[at]bdxc.org.uk ** or tel 07711 616908.
