Manx Transport Museum Group

The Group was formed in the early 1990's to promote the establishment of a transport museum on the Isle of Man. Whilst this remains the long term objective, the Group, has in the meantime, a number of other smaller projects including the opening of an exhibition centre in the former brickworks office in Peel, the restoration of which is well underway and an opening date will be announced as soon as possible.

The body of former Isle of Man Railway coach C1, latterly part of F64, has now arrived in Peel and currently sits adjacent to the Brickworks Office

Also high on the agenda is the preservation of at least part of the former Cunningham's Camp escalator, which operated until the late 1960's and is perhaps a unique surviving example of early reno escalator technology.

The Falcon Cliff lift and the whereabouts of an Aerovan aircraft or its remains also help to keep the committee on their toes.

The Group publishes a quarterly newsletter called 'NewsRound' which includes information on the activities and working parties as well as interesting articles about transport heritage on the Island. Membership is just £5.00 per annum.
