| The client had bought the van painted immaculately in LNWR livery. It looked nice but too clean on his railway, where all the other stock is weathered to some degree. I first sprayed the van with matt varnish to protect the transfers. I then added a layer of sooty grime and then cleaned it off so that traces remain in the corners of the panels and around hinges etc. I also painted the white roof a dark grey. The ends and underframe were left looking much dirtier. No rust was added to the underframe as coaches were well cared for in pre-grouping days. | |
