Chrystel Arts Theatre School is an independent Theatre School run by sisters Elaine Twining and Christine Minter.

It has been established in its present form since 1987, being a direct descendant of the Doris Clark School of Dancing, which was established in the 1930’s. The name of the school then became the Edgware Dance Studios - re-named when Jill Price, a teacher for Doris Clark, took over the school.

Elaine and Christine were pupils of Jill Price who went on to train as teachers with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA).

WE ARE NOT A FRANCHISE!

We pride ourselves on our friendly, caring, family-orientated atmosphere and are delighted that many ex-pupils now bring their own children to Chrystel Arts. Some of our students have been with us for over 20 years and many have gone on to professional careers in the performing arts.

Chrystel Arts offers part-time classes in Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap, Drama and Musical Theatre. Students can take examinations in dance (ISTD) and drama/musical theatre (LAMDA) and there are regular performances, presentations and festivals.

Our staff are highly qualified and experienced in their various fields and some are professional actors, dancers and dancers in their own right, passing on to the students their invaluable experience in the industry. Some teachers started their training at Chrystel Arts at the tender age of 3yrs old!

We have students from many different cultures and nationalities and are proud of how they all work together in harmony. Our students make strong friendships that exist beyond the boundaries of our classrooms and they all provide each other with a strong support network.

We are happy to accommodate students with learning or physical difficulties and parents have found that our classes can help these children reach their full potential.

Chrystel Arts also has its own Agency representing children and young adults for film, television and theatre work.

Our Costume and Dancewear division offers a range of shoes and dancewear for sale as well as dance bags, gifts and novelty items to order. We also have a large range of Costumes for sale or to hire.
