Twinning Links with Grossalmerode in Germany

Grossalmerode is a picturesque small town with many traditional half-timbered buildings with steeply pitched roofs. It is near to the former “iron curtain” border with East Germany, amidst the excellent walking country of the wooded hillsides of the Meissner Kaufunger forest, and its nearest large town is Kassel.

When the twinning process was set up in 1973 Royston already had an existing link with Grossalmerode through Johnson Matthey and regular twinning visits have taken place from 1974 onwards, often in association with particular groups in the towns such as the Band, sporting groups, especially footballers, and the Parish Church.

Großalmerode ist eine malerische kleine Stadt mit vielen traditionellen Fachwerkhäusern mit steil geneigten Dächern. Es ist in der Nähe des ehemaligen "Eisernen Vorhangs" Grenze zu Ost-Deutschland, mitten im Land ausgezeichnete Wanderwege der bewaldeten Hänge des Meissner-Kaufunger Wald, und seine nächste große Stadt ist Kassel.

Twinning Links with La Loupe in France

La Loupe is situated mid-way between the Normandy coast and the Loire valley in France. The surrounding countryside is of gently rolling hills, near the great grain growing area of the “Beauce” and the nearest town is the picturesque city of Chartres with its historic cathedral.
Royston has been twinned with La Loupe since 1986 and since then each town has visited the other in alternate years, usually in May. During these twinning weekends some of the time is spent both with the hosts and with the group as a whole.
The Twinning Association organises various social events such as Beaujolais Nouveau evenings, and a Christmas Dinner throughout the year .

La Loupe est situé à mi-chemin entre la côte normande et de la vallée de la Loire en France. La campagne environnante est de douces collines, près de la zone du grain grande croissante de la «Beauce» et la ville la plus proche est la ville pittoresque de Chartres avec sa cathédrale historique.
Royston a été jumelée avec La Loupe depuis 1986 et depuis lors, chaque ville a visité l'autre en alternant les années, généralement en mai. Au cours de ces week-ends de jumelage de temps en temps est passé à la fois avec les hôtes et avec le groupe dans son ensemble.
L'Association de jumelage organise diverses activités sociales comme des soirées Beaujolais Nouveau, et un dîner de Noël tout au long de l'année.

Twinning Links with Villanueva
de la Cañada

Villa Nueva de la Cañada is a modern town with a population of around 19,000 and its pleasant parks and grassy areas encourage social, cultural and sparkling activities.
The town has two lively universities - the Alfonso X et Sabio and the Camilo José Cela - which make a substantial contribution to the life of the town. The Aqua polis provides am important and extremely popular facility.

Villa Nueva de la Cañada es una ciudad moderna con una población de alrededor de 19.000 y sus agradables parques y zonas verdes alienten a realizar actividades sociales, culturales y brillante.
La ciudad tiene dos universidades: la animada Alfonso X el Sabio y otros y la Camilo José Cela - que hacen una contribución sustancial a la vida de la ciudad. La polis de Aqua proporciona la facilidad soy importante y muy popular.
