The museum is part of the Hertfordshire Museums Reminiscence
network, a grant-funded project which began in 2010 with the objective of
stimulating happy memories for people suffering from short -term memory
loss, Alzheimer's and /or dementia.
The sessions are delivered by trained museum staff and team members using
objects from 1950s.60s,70s and 80s and these may also be borrowed for the
purpose by staff in care homes and hospitals. The war years are not
represented as these may trigger unhappy memories for the participants.
Any number of objects/boxes may be borrowed for a refundable deposit of £5.
Boxes are sorted in themes as a guide to use but borrowers may choose a
mixed selection from the list below.

In 2010 Royston Museum worked with two groups, Royston Over-60s and Ignite,
at the Coombes Community Centre to create two films about life in Royston.
The Royston Over-60s reminisced about Royston in the past and visited the
museum for a Christmas Celebration to view their film. The youth group
Ignite is supported by the BRAVE Trust with the aim of developing skills for
life. Museum staff visited and filmed the group meetings and at the final
session the group prepared and hosted a special dinner party for friends and
family. Both films were premiered at the Royston Arts Festival 2010 and may
be viewed in the museum.
