SHROPSHIRE'S NONCONFORMIST CHAPELS

Alveley Primitive Methodist Chapel
Primitive Methodist Chapel, Alveley

Following the donation of a piece of land on which to build a chapel, the foundation stone was laid on 19th July 1662. This classical style Methodist chapel opened on 19th October 1862 at a cost of just over £253, with seating for 140 worshippers. It closed in February 2011 due to falling membership. It was bought by St Mary’s Parochial Church Council and converted to a community centre in 2013. You can read more about this conversion in the Shropshire Star issue of 12 April 2013.
