Northwood Primitive Methodist Chapel
Northwood Primitive Methodist Chapel, in the parish of Ellesmere
There was a small Primitive Methodist cottage meeting in Northwood by 1851. At the time of the Religious Census in March of that year, there were 20 worshippers at their afternoon service. This "Jubliee Chapel" was erected in 1860, the foundation stones were laid on Monday 16th July & the chapel opened on 25 November. The date stone reads: "PRIMITIVE METHODIST/ Jubilee Chapel/ 1860/ The land kindly given/ by W. Williams". The building measured 27 ft by 18 ft, and contained 8 rising pews and a rostrum. It is still a Methodist chapel in 2020.
