SHROPSHIRE'S NONCONFORMIST CHAPELS

[former] Peaton Strand Primitive Methodist Chapel [former] Peaton Strand Primitive Methodist Chapel
Alas, this chapel is no more! All that remains is the low front wall & railings, the iron gate and part of the flank wall. The chapel was built of polychrome brick. The chapel celebrated its centenary in 1973, so it presumably opened in 1873. It was certainly open by 1874. The chapel was registered for the solemnization of marriages on 25th March 1887. The chapel closed in April 1985 & the building was de-registered as a place of worship on 28th August 1985. A modern house has now been built on the site and is named "Chapel House".
I have now been lent a photograph of the congregation emerging after the last harvest festival in 1984.
