![]() According to some sources this chapel was in the Shropshire ecclesiastical parish of Bettwys-y-Crwyn, but was just across the river Teme and over the border into Wales. Other sources say it was in Beguildy parish in Radnorshire. Land was given by Edward Jones Esq. of the Moat (a large house to the NW of the chapel), for the building of the chapel. The chapel's opening services took place on Friday 29th August 1851. The building measured 26' x 16', & was 14' high and cost just £66 14s. 10½d, towards which £24 was collected on the day. The chapel appears on the Ordnance Survey 25" maps of the mid 1880s & on the 1901 edition, but the building was no longer shown on the O.S. map of 1948. It has now totally disappeared. As it was so near to the river, and seemingly on a flood plain, it probably suffered from flooding. Grid ref: SO 190802 |
