SHROPSHIRE'S NONCONFORMIST CHAPELS

[former]Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Trench [former] Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Trench
This chapel was opened on the 2nd November 1823. It measured 39 ft x 30 ft in size and had cost 350. In the 1851 Religious Census it was said to have had sittings for about 280 worshippers. At their morning service on 30 March they had 99 attenders and in the evening they had 333 a larger than usual number due to it being a funeral service. They also had 56 Sunday scholars in the morning and 93 in the afternoon. An organ was erected in the chapel in 1889 for which a special service was held on the 12th May and a concert on the 14th May. The chapel closed in 1948 due to a decline in the membership.
