The most famous of the russets, Egremont has a very strong and distinctive flavour. It is very sweet yet also has great complexity. Most often described as nutty, it is impossible to describe the favour precisely to someone who has never tasted the variety. Unfortunatley Egremont Russet is prone to biennial cropping and so supply varies considerably year to year. However, demand is always strong and it is one of our most popular varieties.
