Cross Lanes is just 4 miles from Reading Station. Leave Reading through Caversham on the A4074 Woodcote Road (leading towards Oxford). After passing golf courses on both sides of the road after leaving the built up area, take the first road on the left signed Mapledurham. Continue for a mile (Straight on, do NOT turn left at cross roads signed Mapledurham) until you reach Cross Lanes on the right side of the road, turn in through the stone gateposts. If you reach the King Charles Head public house you have gone too far!

Oxford: leave Oxford on the A4074 leading south towards Wallingford and Reading. Continue for about 20 miles until you pass the Oratory school on an embankment to the right of the road. Take the next road to the right and continue for 1/4 of a mile. Then go first left down a minor road. Continue to the next cross roads, then go left and continue past the King Charles Head public house in the woods. Cross Lanes is the third next turning on the left with the Stone Gateposts. Total journey time from Central Oxford: 45minutes.
