Apple Day

Our main open day of the year is Apple Day held in early October in advance of National Apple Day. It is 25 years since our first Apple Day and it has grown into a major event now.

On Apple Day there are exhibitions, guided walks around the orchard, apple tasting of over 30 varieties, local produce for sale apples, pears, juices, cakes, pies plus local plants and honey. There are also children's games and a quiz to make it a day out for all the family. Entrance and car parking are free.

Our Apple Day this year was onSunday 9 October 2011. Thank you to of you who came and enjoyed the day.

Spring Open Day

Often in the Spring, Cross Lanes opens the gates to invite people to enjoy the wonderful apple blossom. In 2011 a winter that started cold changed in mid March to the warmest Spring ever. Bud development was so rapid we could not predict a date for full bloom and we decided not to hold a "Blossom Day". Full bloom occurred on 19 April - the earliest date ever recorded.
