NEWS - NOVEMBER 2008

The original building on Whitechapel Road has been renovated and is now available for reunions. I will happily organise a reunion if there is sufficent demand - so do please email me if you are interested. There are currently just five names on the list!

Internally, only the original lecture theatre remains, the rest of the interior has been modernised.

If you'd like to visit the building to see what has been done, please let me know.

Davenant was founded in 1680 by Revd. Ralph Davenant.               The school was based in Whitechapel until 1965 so there are many of us who still have vivid memories of that era.............

 Memories of the 1960's

  • The glass-sided "temporary" classrooms.
  • The milk table under the arches.
  • Swimming lessons at Aldgate Baths.
  • Mr. Newton and his Squeegee bottles.
  • The Mock Trial of Bob Tyler.
  • House Names--Carter(yellow), Owen(green), Warren(red) and Wise(blue).
  • Games at Gorsebrook Playing Fields in Dagenham.
  • "Our Father, by whose servants our house was built of old "

Reunions are also occasionally held at Loughton, so do please let me know if you are interested.
