ABOUT

Eric is the Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Chloride Group (FTSE250) as well as being a member of a number of Advisory Boards for other companies and public bodies. He was a partner in Deloitte & Touche in London for 25 years, working mainly with large listed companies and has been the Finance Director responsible for the restructuring of two listed companies. He is seeking to expand his Non Executive portfolio, with either a chairman role or as a NED willing to chair Audit and Remuneration Committees.

The Finance Director roles were at Wembley plc and Amey plc and involved the successful restructuring of companies in crisis. Both jobs were high profile in the press with the Amey role being shortlisted for the Accountancy Age FD of the Year award.

His major clients at Deloitte were also at different times fairly high profile and provided him with an unusually high degree of work with the directors and time in the boardrooms. Railtrack Group, TXU, BAA and the CAA all went through major transformations which provided him with a variety of challenges in terms of persuading Boards to take difficult decisions and dealing with divided Boards. His roles as lead adviser or lead accounting adviser on the gas, water and rail privatisations in England & Wales and the electricity and airport sales in Northern Ireland provided a wealth of transaction experience as well as a record of dealing with government.

The management roles he had at Deloitte allowed him to demonstrate that he could run business units well and profitably and his legacy of protegees still in the partnership at senior levels is testament to how he built teams and developed talent.

Outside of work, he is a keen follower of international rugby and cricket, having been 12th man for the NZ cricket team in 2004. He is a Past Master of The Worshipful Company of World Traders.

He and his wife also enjoy theatre, opera and developing their garden in Wiltshire.
