About the group
Grooving Toddlers is a music group for 6 months - 3 year olds and their parents/carers.
We are an independent group, who meet once a week (Thursdays 10-11am). We meet in the south of York.
We start with drinks and biscuits followed by songs and games.
Cost is just £1.50 per family and all our profits are given to children's charities (about £300 per year).
Naomi runs this group, hence it being on her website.
The group runs with a maximum active membership of 20 families. New members are welcome to try the group out for a
session and then wait for a space.
To try us out and join the waiting list (if there is one at the time),
please Email: naomi@naomisglass.co.uk.
When the weather is good we sometimes meet in Rowntree Park:
Grooving Toddlers in Rowntree Park Summer 2005 (using masks and sign language for Old MacDonald)
We also have extra socials including Christmas and end of year parties for the kids and Mums Nights Out for the mums (though we now have 2 dads and some child minders, so may need to rename the event!).
History of the group
Nicola Betts, a music teacher in York, had a baby and she and her friends started doing music with their babies (in about 2000).
It got so popular that they had to start renting a hall. That was the start of Grooving Babies.
The babies then grew up and the group was renamed Grooving Toddlers.
Nicola's daughter grew too old for the group, and Nicola returned to work, so Naomi Whittaker took over the group in September 2004. Naomi's son, Sam,
is now too old for the group, but now she has Lily (born 2006) she can continue running it for a few more years!
