In 2005 the Supreme Head of the Federation of Malaysia decided to award a special medal in appreciation of all personnel who had served in Malaysia and Singapore during the period 1957 to 1967 during the years of the Malayan Emergency and the Indonesian Confrontation.
The medal widely known as the PJM and the accompanying citation is shown below. It was issued to Far East veterans in 2007 and is worn with pride despite protocol restrictions imposed by Her Majesty's Government.
