RETURN TO THE UK
En route to ADEN
Arab Dhow's were an indication that we were approaching Aden.
Then we were allowed ashore.
Eventually we hired a taxi to take us sight seeing. Memory fails me as to all the places we visited in the short time we spent ashore however there are more photographs of various places on the next page
The SS Nevasa was a fine looking ship.
Friends and myself at Steamer Point.
We eventually arrived in Aden on Xmas eve 1959. Much to our great disappointment we were not allowed ashore until Xmas day. These photographs show our Xmas dinner the next day.
Cracking Walnuts without a nut cracker required ingenuity!
The first real opportunity to see Nevasa.
Steamer Point swimming area and shark net!
The Royal Navy passes by.
The sign in the background reads"Er! Attention troops Merry Xmas" All ships Tannoy messages started with
these words which became a standing joke.
