RAF SELETAR
The swimming pool
The RAF Seletar swimming pool was very popular with all the servicemen and their families. It was a good place to relax have a cool beer and get away from the oppressive heat.  During the Japanese occupation it was used as a fuel storage reservoir. Consequently it required frequent draining and cleaning as occasionally traces of fuel could be seen oozing out of the tiles even though it was some 12 years after the end of WW2. The photographs below show everyone, small children (now grown up and probably grandparents!) married families, servicemen and even a pair of curious monkeys enjoying the activities.
