F block was located about 300 yards from the water front and next to a Mangove swamp. Mosquito's were a menace to those living on the ground and first floors. However I was billeted on the top floor and mosquito nets were never necessary!  During the Japanese occupation in WW2, the ground floor was used as stables while the rest of the block became a Japanese brothel!
