The Tuesday Peal Band

For many years up to his death in 2006 Gerald Hemming organised a peal attempt every Tuesday in towers in the area around Evesham. In response to an extortionate increase in the fees charged by the Worcester and Districts Change Ringing Association, in 1998 he established the Vale of Evesham Society.  There were no membership or peal fees, the sole qualification for membership is to have rung a peal with other members for the society.

Since his death the Tuesday group has continued as a cooperative with members organising its activities.

It holds an informal annual meeting towards the end of October each year after a peal attempt at Great Hampton marking the anniversary of Gerald's death

Peal Attempts

Members attempt a peal every Tuesday morning. Not all are credited to the Society - some are rung for the Worcester and Districts Change Ringing Association or the Hereford Diocesan Guild depending on the make-up of the band.
