Braunton Rally 2010

Surfing seemed to be the focus of the Devon rally not for us, but for the weekend gathering of young surfers on the Lobb Fields site, which is close to Devon`s surfing beaches.

Although we were a group of just six units, it was easier to get to know each other, and we enjoyed Wendy and Keith`s arrangements. In particular, it was good to have our daily gathering in the evening, rather than at morning coffee, so we were able to have an early start to the day, with more time for chatting later, outside or in the garden shelter we`d brought from our own rally the week before.  We had an American supper on the Saturday, at which Wendy and Keith provided scones and cream, and organised a fun guessing game.  Then on Monday, we sat down to an excellent meal in a local pub.

The weather was mixed, with some sun and some rain, and a lot of wind (good for surfing!), but there were lots of places to visit, such as Ilfracombe, Appledore, Combe Martin and Barnstaple, and some beautiful countryside to see and walk in.  Over all, it was a very pleasant and relaxing holiday.
