Rally report from Margaret & Jim Newman
Old Leake Rally 2010
We arrived on Thursday at a lovely site in the Lincolnshire
countryside with the sun shining brightly. We were greeted by four
welcoming faces - organisers - Sylvia and Keith with helpers - Lorna
and Pat - to whom we must say ‘thank you’ for a most enjoyable and
This site is central to many places of interest and we made good use of
visiting historic houses, churches etc during our stay here. Some
members visited Frampton Marshes and Gibraltar Point for bird watching
whilst others went into picturesque towns and villages.
We met in the evenings and on one occasion, as this was the very first
caravan rally that had been organised on this site, the owners, Steve
and Margaret, brought along six bottles of champagne to celebrate. We
had a jolly time as you can imagine! We had a group photograph taken
with Steve - you will see this on the website! Each evening there were
the usual notices given and outside the marquee we had a large Jenka
for the steady handed members and a quoit game for those with a good
eye to throwing rings on a numbered board.
The Heckington Show took place on the Saturday and Sunday of the rally
and many of us went. This show had so much to offer and was an
excellent day out. We had a quiz on ‘Cinema and Television’ This was
won by Angela and Derek and Mary ran the usual raffle.
On the last Monday we had a very nice meal at a local pub called the
Duke of Wellington.
Tuesday morning came all too soon and once again we packed up and said
our ‘good-byes’ and left with lovely memories of an excellent rally
with good friends. Thank you again Sylvia and Keith, Lorna and Pat.
