Lairhillock Rally 2012

We arrived at Lairhillock in bright sunshine to a warm welcome from Wendy and Keith and Pat and John and were able to set up caravan and awning and sit outside awaiting the arrival of the other ralliers.

A welcome evening was held in the awning extension which had been erected with great ingenuity and there was plenty of room for everyone.  Coffee evenings instead of mornings were held and this gave those who wanted to explore further afield to leave early in the morning - and others to have a lie in!

Many people took advantage of being in Warwickshire to visit various museums and places of interest and went to Stratford on Avon, Coventry, Warwick and reported enjoyable visits.  Others of us decided to take it easy and potter around the local, very pretty area.  The little town of Southam had great history, with one house reportedly visited by Charles I during the Civil War, and some of us walked around the local reservoir and enjoyed a drink in the hot sunshine by the canal.  Although the weather was damp on occasion, we managed a few hours of warm sunshine every day and many of us took advantage of this to sit and bask - something that's not happened often this year!

Fish and chips were enjoyed in the meeting tent on Saturday evening - what do Gobur owners find to talk about! On Sunday evening the prizes for the raffles were drawn (Ros Bond being very successful in this area!) and Pat and John won the photograph quiz on the toss of a coin, the bottle of wine being very appropriate as it was their wedding anniversary.

A dinner was enjoyed at The Blue Lias, an interesting and attractive pub on the canal, on Monday evening, where thanks were given to Wendy and Keith and Pat and John and a sad but fond farewell to Ray and Olive as this was their final rally.

Tuesday morning arrived all too soon and we were saying our goodbyes after a really enjoyable rally. Many thanks to the rally organisers.
