Sixpenny Handley Rally 2012

Sixteen vans arrived for the Rally at Sixpenny Handley run by Joy Stovell & Peter Silverthorne.
Four new members joined us, Yvonne and Steve Jones and Nicola and Brian Merrifield. It was their very first rally.

We arrived on Thursday in lovely sunshine to the site, which is quite tucked away in the pretty surroundings of Wiltshire.

Nice peaceful site with a donkey and a couple of sheep that you were allowed to feed should you want to.

We went for a walk to the little village on Friday, which is really near to the site.
Saturday we went into Salisbury on the excellent park and ride.

Saturday evening Joy and Peter had arranged fish and chips for us in the on-site caf, which was really nice. When we went back later in the evening to our vans the weather took a bad downturn. The rain started to lash down and the gales were reported to be 40 miles per hour. Very scary.

As the bad weather continued through Sunday, we decided to stay in, as I believe most people did.
Monday, thankfully the sun came out and we went back into Salisbury to cover areas wed missed.
Monday evening we had a lovely meal at the Roebuck Inn, just a walk away from the site. Its normally closed on Monday evenings but the landlord opened especially for us.

So despite the inclement weather, it was, as always, a very enjoyable rally.
Thanks again to Joy and Peter.
