Rally report from Steve & Yvonne Jones
The rally was run by Keith and Wendy Wright and ably assisted
by John & Pat Lowery.
We all arrived on Thursday in beautiful sunshine to a very tranquil
site, where we were warmly welcomed by Keith and Wendy who provided us
with a very welcome cuppa, rally itinerary with free raffle ticket and
guess the personality’s names. The site was unbelievably quiet seeing
it was only a stone’s throw from the M6, M42 and Birmingham.
Our meeting room was Keith & Wendy’s tent where we met for our
coffee evenings and caught up with everyone. Thursday evening was the
usual welcome chat and Keith pointed out the events that they had
planned and Ros Bond had a selection of brochures for visiting places
in the area, which were very helpful. We also welcomed Ronald Ashford
to his first rally.
On Friday everyone went their separate ways. We visited the National
Motor Cycle Museum where we saw at least 800 British motor cycles.
Other attractions were the Motor Museum at Coventry, Charlecote Park,
Baddesley Clinton, Wellesbourne Market to name a few, and of course
“JACKSONS OF OLD ARLEY” (camping shop) of which 90% of us filled their
coffers over one or two days.
The weather seemed to be so much hotter on Saturday that two of our
party went home to water their tomatoes!!!! The planned American Supper
was well received and enjoyed by all. Wendy then produced the dice game
which brought great hilarity and a word game that gave a lot of fun. It
had to be carried over to the next night as ‘QUIET TIME’ on the site
On Sunday, Marys raffle made £40 for Richards Charities was drawn, as
was the free raffle ticket and picture quiz.
On Monday we took our awnings down and packed up ready for leaving. In
the evening we enjoyed a superb meal at the Bulls Head, Meriden. A vote
of thanks was given to Keith, Wendy, John and Pat for giving us a
memorable rally, and the best weather we could have ever wished for.
On Tuesday and as we said our goodbyes before we journeyed home to
various parts of the country, some shorter than others, we all departed
having renewed old friendships and made new ones with the hope of
getting together somewhere soon taking with us wonderful memories of a
