Fakenham Rally 2016

We arrived at the Race Course in glorious sunshire to be welcomed by Steve and Yvonne Jones and helpers David and Chris Graham, who soon produced a very welcome cup of tea. After a quick discussion about the merits of grass or hardstanding and location of a pitch, we chose a hardstanding and were soon set up and off to the shops to purchase our evening meal. The very good weather was not to last although the sun shone the wind from the East was at time bitter.

We all met in the evening in the Parade Ring Room for drinks and a welcome from the Chairman who introduced the new members who were attending for the first time.

The Rally Quiz was about Fakenham and the local area supplemented by General Knowledge questions. It certainly got us all thinking about landmarks etc especially those who have been coming to AGMs for a number of years.

There were a few puzzled faces when the results were revealed, it just showed how much notice some of us taken to the surroundings we rally in, Liz and Martin Turner were declared the winners.

Saturday saw all attending the AGM in the Lancaster Suite at the Fakenham Sports Club, which was mercifully very short and then in the evening sitting down to a 2 course meal. (full details of the AGM will be published separately).

To conclude the evening Richard Moss said his usual few short words of thanks to the club and announced where he had distributed last years Marys Raffle Money.

The main beneficiary was Guide Dogs for the Blind, the remainder going to “Bloodwise” and Leukemia Care. Yvonne Jones gave the total collections for Marys Raffle at the rally as £200, generous giving by all.

Sunday Evening, all met again in the Parade Ring Room for drinks and this time cake. During the evening Yve and Ben Strawson gave a talk on the work of the Guide Dogs for the Blind. They are known to club members for their work with puppies that are destine to become help dogs.

The end of rally meal on Monday night was an American Supper in the usual watering hole. This is where all take a plate of food for themselves and a plate to food to share with others, yet again there was enough food to feed the five thousand. To conclude Malcolm Smith thanked on behalf of all the Organisers and Helpers.
