Daisy Bank Rally 2019
the road you knew you were almost at Daisy Bank when the road marking
read “ARAF” and you wondered if ignoring it might result in a tap on
the shoulder from the “HEDDLU”? Crossing the English–Welsh was a
non-event with no passport control!
site is very attractive and well run, with beautiful vistas across the
Shropshire hills. It is divided into 4 areas & ours had the best
views. Alan & Sylvia were already pitched up and welcomed each
arrival. Nine Carousels, housing 15 of us plus Tom, Tinker &
Scally to wag their tails to all, soon erected their caravans &put
up awnings. Our pitches were hard standings and fully serviced. Luxury
our welcome packs was a quiz sheet and a white raffle ticket.
soon had his trademark model railway set up and travelling round the
track on his pitch. Perhaps it was en-route to....
welcomed Janet as a new Carousel owner, to her first rally. She must
have SUCH a long list of jobs after gleaning hints and tips from us
area is a paradise for walkers with Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley
offering breath-taking scenery. There are also a number of historic
castles to visit. Newly restored Ironbridge is also not too far and is
now looking magnificent following 18 months of work on it. This work
was completed this January.

etc. Saturday was “interesting” with storm Hannah lashing her fury,
rain as if it was going out of fashion and very windy. The temperature
was on a downward spiral and mid-morning was MINUS 1.7 degrees. We
wondered if the rain might turn to snow? It calmed down as the day
wore on and warmed up a little.
evening we all gathered at Hyssington Village hall bringing our own
first course of supper & enjoying the selection of afters, teas
& coffees provided by Alan & Sylvia.
followed “who’s who”, which was identifying happy Carousellers from
their photos aged under 5 !! Some beautiful photos, but who was who!!
After all we hadn’t changed a bit had we?
Alan’s challenge, of remembering as many as possible of the 20 objects
on the table. We were allowed a minute to study them the 5 minutes to
write down our answers. In the silence of concentration you could
almost hear the brains working!
oos and aahs of realisation, when the answers were read out, were
evening was the raffle draw, and quiz answers. The raffle (Mary’s
raffle) raised £51 and much hilarity was guessing what was in the pre
wrapped prizes laid out on the table in Alan& Sylvia’s awning. One
parcel in particular certainly did appear to resemble a mini loo seat!
but was revealed to be a heart shaped chopping board.Mick & Erica
won the quiz.
too soon the week came to an end and there was a flurry of activity as
we all took down awnings and packed up. As each caravan departed we
all said our good byes.
of us will meet again at the AGM in Fakenham so the Carousels won’t
have much of a rest.

We should all be very proud of owning our Carousels as they have been
given a glowing report in the latest Caravan Club magazine. Richard is
praised for his speed in erecting one and excellent hand over to
Daisy Bank Caravan Park, Snead, Powys
