We arrived at Brian and Pauline Littlefield’s rally at the Little Satmar, Capel-Le-Ferne, Kent, late, in the dark, and in rain and heavy mist, but were given a warm welcome together with hot mug of tea. A team of club members assisted to erect our Gobur in record time and showed us to the ’communal tent’ used during the rally as ’open house’ to meet up at anytime.
The weather improved, and this rally shared the weekend with another popular event in this part of Kent, - the ’Tour de France’ and also the Battle of Britain anniversary parade at the nearby memorial /museum. The latter being a really enjoyable affair complete with marching band, mobile NAAFI, memorabilia stalls, Dads Army display and veterans parade.
There were visits made to many local places of interest including the cliff top cafe for cream teas, whilst four of our members ventured across the water to France.
Back at camp Brian and Pauline organized the usual coffee mornings, quiz and evening gatherings including a cheese and wine evening where we all overdosed on cheese, and then on the Monday evening finished off with a great 3 course meal at the local pub. Thanks to Brian and Pauline for a very enjoyable rally with a lovely atmosphere, and to their very able assistants, Pat and John Lowery..
