Fakenham and AGM Rally, Norfolk

Thursday 7th May to 12 May 2009

Organised by Malcolm and Kate Smith

From Alan Barnes...

The usual warm welcome awaited all attending the 11th Gobur AGM at Fakenham. The pitch 'detail' excelled themselves and vans sprang up everywhere. The near westerly gale caused small problems but awnings were eventually raised and safely pegged down. By Saturday morning 53 units were present.

Members met as usual in the Long Bar on Thursday evening where old friendships were renewed and new friendships nurtured. The Rally programme was presented and new members welcomed.

Coffee mornings were loud and enjoyable; afterwards people dispersed around beautiful Norfolk countryside to make the most of sunny days.

Saturday dawned brightly and most folk walked to Wensum Lodge for the AGM. The meeting began on time and Malcolm took us briskly through the agenda which included retirement and election of officers. Presentations were made and the meeting closed on the hour.

We returned to the Lodge in the evening and enjoyed a carvery in the company of Richard and Mandy, Stephen and Sandy. The fine evening enabled us again to walk to and from the Racecourse.

A small numbers of vans left during Sunday and Monday: their owners unfortunately missing the fantastic Hog Roast. It was chilly (even in doors) but the meal, wine and great humour warmed the cockles as the evening progressed.

Malcolm and Kate are to thanked for a brilliantly run rally. Their hard work and preparation hugely appreciated as was that of assistants David and Margaret and all other members who 'pitched in' when call upon to help.

From Lorna Veitch...

Once again a great rally for our AGM meeting (thank you Malcolm & Kate and all helpers). And a big thank you to all members who attended my big birthday party (Hog Roast). My big card with all the wonderful comments will be a joy forever.
